Designs of the home-industry embroderies in Bukovina. Published in August 1912.
Collected, drawn and arranged by engineer Erich Kolbenheyer, K.K regierungsrat und baurat, direktor der K.K staatsgewerbeschule in Czernowitz.
Published by the imperial Ministry for public works and the Bukovina diet.
This extensive and rare portfolio contains 19 photographic reproductions and 75 chromo-lithographic plates in bright colours. Together they display a rich assortment of folkloric designs from the embroideries of the highly diversified population of the Austrian crownland of Bukovina. The then director of the State School in Chernivtsi and compiler of this work Erich Kolbenheyer traveled for years through Bukovina, which is now located in Ukraine and Romania. He collected, drew, systematized and commented on hundreds of embroidery designs that he found among the Romanian and Ukrainian peasantry. The preface, all captions and an extensive index of plates are in German, French and English, the index also with Romanian and Ukrainian derivations

On pages 78 and 79 there are 19 images of garments.

An orientation map, with references number in the table to places in the region. Then follow 75 color images of patterns on thick paper.
Original publisher’s cardboard clamshell box on cream stock with multicolour pictorial title printing on 3 flaps, spine and joints enforced with grey cloth. Clamshell is repaired.
