Versatility & Performance
The Topping DX7 Pro is a model of versatility and performance. This DAC embeds a particularly complete connectivity, covering the vast majority of possible integrations in a HiFi audio system, combined with an intelligent architecture supporting high sampling rates and offering rich and accurate audio reproduction.
ES9038Pro DAC & USB XMOS XU208 InterfaceA major difference between the DX7s Topping and the DX7 Pro, the DAC now includes an ES9038Pro ESS chip, which is more powerful than the ES9038Q2M duo of the DX7s.
This new chip offers a better signal-to-noise ratio and a lower level of distortion for an ever more accurate, rich and faithful sound reproduction. In addition, this chip supports high sampling rates.
On the USB interface side, we find once again the XMOS XU208 chip, well known to audiophiles and offering an exceptionally transparent reproduction.
Bluetooth 5.0 aptX HD / LDAC
Also new in this Pro version of the DX7 Topping, it is now equipped with a Bluetooth 5..0 Qualcomm CSR8675 chip.
While this type of connectivity is particularly convenient by offering the possibility of remote transmission directly from a smartphone or tablet, it is also synonymous with audio quality since this chip supports the aptX, aptX LL, aptX HD and LDAC protocols.
These protocols allow a faster, more stable signal transmission but also, especially in the case of LDAC, to support higher sampling rates since this protocol is able to decode PCM streams up to 24bit 96kHz (24bit 48kHz for aptX HD).
A particularly complete connection system
For its connectivity, the DX7 Pro offers a particularly complete panel. The rear panel reveals the input of USB-B (XMOS), I2S Optics, Coaxial, I2S, AES/EBU and Bluetooth antenna.
On the output side, the DX7 Pro offers balanced XLR, single-ended RCA and Coaxial S/PDIF on its rear panel.
The front panel of the unit features the headphone outputs amplified with 6.35mm jack, 4.4mm balanced jack and 4 pin XLR balanced jack.
Full Balanced
The DX7 Pro's circuits have been designed to be full balanced.
Thus, the analog section includes separate OPA 1612 operational amplifiers for each channel and the headphone amplification of each channel is assigned to an independent TPA6120A2 chip.
High fidelity balanced headphone section
The DX7 Pro Topping provides optimal headphone output performance with two TPA6112A2 amplifiers.
Thus, in addition to supporting up to DSD1024 and PCM 32bit 768kHz, it benefits from a particularly neat analog output stage that can drive a very large majority of audiophile headphones, on 4 pin balanced XLR output.
This allows the DX7 Pro to offer a lower sound colouring and therefore a more accurate reproduction, a very low distortion and a high linearity. You gain in dynamics, detail and neutrality.

Conclusions
The Topping DX7 Pro betters the DAC performance of all the produces Topping had produced. On SINAD measurement, it lands in the coveted range of near 120 dB, proving beyond a shadow of doubt that it is transparent to any content you attempt to play. This is a super challenging bar to reach and I congratulate Topping for getting there.
