“We stayed here for two nights. Location: The location is totally great. Gerard's place can be reached from Utrecht central station by bus no. 1 towards Hoograven. Get down at Bogotadreef, cross the park towards the river and you are at the boat. The old town and the canals are 3Km away from the boat. A taxi ride from the boat to Utrecht central station will cost 20 EUR. There is ample parking on the street for cars. The Boat: The guests can use one of the two bedrooms in the boat. The kitchen and washroom are shared with Gerard. There is a long table in the bedroom that functions as both reading and dining tables. The wardrobe has extra bed sheets and towels inside. The garden in front of the boat is a good place to have breakfast or to drink the evening away. The washroom is a bit small and without a washbasin. Getting Away: The road in front of the boat is a joggers track (rubberized, I guess) and very good for biking. You can rent bikes from Gerard (5 EUR per day). The canals can be reached in 10 minutes by bike towards your right from the boat. Bike towards the left from the boat to enjoy the country side. Explore a couple of castles, wind mill, and villas (both old and new) on the banks of the Vecht. The nearest small town (10 -15 minutes by bike from the boat), Maarssen have a couple of good restaurants, cafes, pubs, and a good museum (Stichting Vechtstreekmuseum) to offer. One of the best castle, Kasteel de Haar is 40 minutes away from the boat by bike. Gerard, a professional piano player was warm and friendly. We enjoyed our stay at Gerard's place. It was a lot better than staying in a hostel in the city. ” Best regards, Dani

“Gerard is a really friendly and caring host. He welcomed us with a freshly pressed orange juice and gave us advice on what to see and where to go in Utrecht. The boat is nice and situated close to the city centre. It is also possible to rent bikes from Gerard for a reasonable price which we definitely recommend since it is the easiest way to get around in Utrecht. The boat and the room are very comfortable and everything is clean. The kitchen has everything that is needed and guests even have their own refrigerator in their room.” Malina en Julian aug 2017
