The Mercury VRi is an innovative wall mount loudspeaker based on the exceptional V1i. The mercury VRi cabinet offers much reduced depth over the V1i, sacrificing some deep bass performance for a super compact speaker that is ideal for rear surround, rear back or Dolby Height channel duties. The VRi offers exactly the same components and performance as the V1i with tweaked ‘close to wall’ tuning. This allows those extremely tight on space to benefit from the Mercury V1i sound in an ultra-compact and discrete stereo or multi-channel system. Pre-fitted to the rear panel of the VRi is a four way fixing device that allows the speaker to be easily flush mounted to a wall in either portrait or landscape orientation. To cater for both modern and more traditional decor, Mercury VRi is available in either sugar maple or dark walnut finish.
Advanced Wideband tweeterKey to the Mercury VRi is an all-new magnesium-aluminium alloy tweeter offering an extremely wide bandwidth and incredibly detailed high frequency response. With a bandwidth extending out to 53 kHz, Mercury VRi delivers a wide soundstage and spacious sound effects from its compact and easy to place cabinet.

Revised internal bracing on the new Mercury VRi creates a solid and compact cabinet with very low colouration. Built from wood pulp and high density fibre loaded board, each cabinet benefits from low frequency port-tuning tailored to the smaller cabinet volume for increase bass depth and slam.
Crossover with Differential Materials Technology™
The Mercury VRi crossover features higher tolerance components, new wiring and the use of Tannoy’s bespoke Differential Material Technology™ (DMT) damping on the HF capacitors. Designed to seamlessly integrate the new tweeter with the stiff but light pulp fibre mid / bass cone, first introduced on Mercury V, the new crossover offers smoother integration and an even greater sense effects placement than its award-winning predecessor.
High purity silver-plated wiring
Unheard of in a budget loudspeaker design, Tannoy’s engineers found that this high quality silver plated oxygen-free copper cable gives Mercury Vi speakers better air and space in treble detailing. The result is a more articulate and detailed sound with resolution of fine detail and micro dynamics on par with speakers costing much more.
Mounting flexibility
The Mercury Vi range (except V4i) can be easily wall mounted for convenience and a discreet look in the home. Each unit is fitted with two screw-sockets, securely fastened into the cabinet body for use with a wide range of third-party loudspeaker brackets. In addition to these mounting sockets the dedicated wall-mount Mercury VRi rear speaker comes with twin key-hole mounts for simple and cost-effect screw or bolt fixing flush to the wall.
