Johnny Mathis bracht in 1957 'Warm' uit, zijn derde album. Het album is een voorbeeld van de klassieke romantische sfeer die Mathis tot een superster maakte. Het weelderige, romantische 'Warm' bevat zowel 'My One And Only Love' als 'A Handful Of Stars', 'By Myself' en 'While We're Young'. Op zijn vijfde album ‘Swing Softly’ zingt Mathis zoals je nooit of waarschijnlijk nooit meer zult horen. Het is een nachtclub in een studio. De Percy Faith-arrangementen op beide door Mitch Miller geproduceerde albums zijn fantastisch, de nummers onvergetelijk, de muziek vingervlug en onweerstaanbaar. Mathis swingt zo makkelijk op deze albums waardoor hij terecht vereerd wordt met de naam “The Voice Of Romance”.
