De pianist en zanger Cullum combineert jazz met pop en rock, een mix die doet denken aan andere artiesten als Harry Connick, jr. en Norah Jones. Naast eigen werk, maakt Cullum ook covers van jazzlegendes en hedendaagse rockbands.
Zijn interese in jazz werd aangewakkerd door zijn oudere broer. Cullum werd beïnvloed door, onder meer, Oscar Peterson en Dave Brubeck en Tom Waits. Hij woonde een tijd in Parijs, waar hij ervaring opdeed in jazzclubs.
Op zijn negentiende bracht Cullum zijn eerste album uit, 'Heard It All Before'. Dit bracht hem onder de aandacht van jazz bassist Geoff Gascoyne, die hem uitnodigde op zijn cd 'Songs of the Summer' mee te spelen. Gascoyne hielp Cullum ook met het opnemen van zijn zeer succesvolle tweede album, 'Pointless Nostalgic'. Achtereenvolgens heeft Cullem de albums 'Twentysomething' (2003) 'Catching Tales' (2005) and 'In the Mind of Jamie Cullum' (2007) uitgebracht.
