We speak English, wir Sprechen Deutsch!Niet alleen heeft deze Fairey Huntsman een rol gespeeld in een James Bond film, de hele historie van het merk (en de man) Fairey is net een spannende film! Een film die zich afspeelt aan de zuidkust van Engenland en dan het meest chique deel, de Solent, Hamble river. Sir Charles Fairey was eigenaar van de Shamrock V een houten J-class. J-class zeiljachten zijn weer helemaal terug en een must have voor de serieuze miljardair die klasse heeft of wil uitstralen.... Sir Charles bouwde vliegtuigen maar in jaren ná de 2e wereldoorlog werden dat boten. Het bijzondere is dat hij eigenlijk een 'disruptor avant la lettre' was die bouwtechnieken uit de vliegtuigindustrie toepaste op de bootbouw. Ontwerpen werden bijvoorbeeld getest in de windtunnel! De basis van de boten is hout MAAR vervolgens gedrenkt in lijm/epoxy en afgebakken in een oven... Keihard en bestand tegen rot. De Fairey's wonnen vele offshore races er waren zelfs volledig gestripte race exemplaren met grote benzine motoren.Een boot voor mannen met ballen die niet bang zijn voor en beetje zout water!It’s rare to see a classic that in many respects can still hold up to modern boats in terms of practicality. The Fairey Huntsman does ánd has seagoing capabilities that most modern boats can only dream of! Even the British Navy agreed on this and used the boats back in the 60’s. ‘Santa Maria’ is not a well maintained or refitted example, she is fully rebuild! Not a single detail is overlooked, the owners and yard went full out to build the best Fairey available. She even smells like new. The ‘no expenses spared’ approach is not reflected in the asking price which is a vast sum below the total investment. The boat is unused since the rebuild was completed. ‘Santa Maria’ was featured in the James Bond movie ‘from Russia with love’. Luckily she only burnt out in the movie when James successfully set fire to her to her to get rid of the bad guys…. Back in 1964 an electric toilet or state of the art battery charger with inverter where not available but are nice to have today… The boat is equipped with everything you need for a luxurious day on the water or a longer cruise.
