A short passage from the introduction of Common positional play 6:

“My trainings give me new ideas. It was Coen Bommel who wanted as a training subject: THIN POSITIONS. First I try to think of what already exists in this area: has a book been written about the subject for example? I believe the answer is: “No, there is no separate book about this, it is a chapter in many educational books however”. I also remembered the series which Ton Sijbrands wrote a long time ago for his magazine Dammen about the thin positions technique of Shchegolev. I also looked at the KnK series which I created with Lambert-Jan Koops: what did we write ourselves about THIN POSITIONS? This is all that occurred to me at the time. (…)

Series!
I did slowly begin to understand that this is a nice subject however. Better yet: it is a very beautiful subject. Also perfectly suitable for the GPS/CPP series. In THIN POSITIONS it is all about understanding the positional play in draughts. And in this series we look at positional play from all sides and in many different ways after all. In my trainings I eventually found a suitable training form for the THIN POSITIONS and I understood that this also suits the series: first think about the positional play yourself and try to name and understand as many positional aspects as possible yourself. (…)

Another point was: how do I limit myself? In this book I limit myself to my own successful THIN POSITIONS. Which may be somewhat presumptuous, but I can recommend it to everyone as a mental boost: collect your own successful THIN POSITIONS. Very stimulating. Another limitation: the transition to the end game I leave out completely. (…)

The core is your technique in THIN POSITIONS and how to develop it. As always in the GPS/CCP series I want to get the reader himself to train and not only read passively. (…)
