Omschrijving

Artikelcode: 6619 The Posters of Achille Mauzan 1883 - 1952 - Catalogue Raisonné 223 pages color photos Soft cover 32 x 24 cm 1,212 kg English As French art historian Alain Weill notes in his preface, Achille Mauzan was for years classified as "a French poster artist, unknown in France." Learning the art of the poster in the years before World War I, when France was still the avant-garde of modern advertising, Mauzan then struck out for Italy, producing some 1500 images for the cinema industry before moving to Argentina in 1927, where he became known as the "father of the advertising poster." His ability to create powerful, salient images was uncanny, and such Mauzan characters as the Geniol man are still part of Argentine popular culture today. Illustrated with hundreds of color and black and white images, this is a comprehensive catalog of his surviving posters, compiled and introduced by his daughter.
